I saw in another threat that someone was able to tether their iPad to their Android phone but their phone was rooted. I have a stock Motorola Droid. Is there anyway I can tether it to my iPad and use its 3G internet? I have a program that lets you connect through bluetooth or USB but I think you need to download a program on the device you want to tether (like a laptop).

You would need a program that turns the droids wifi into an emitting hotspot. The pdanet app you have downloaded is only good for computer function.

If his Droid is rooted then he is probably using wireless tether, and yes, that would work fine with an Ipad. It simply turns the Droid into a wireless access point. To answer your question your phone must be rooted.

I googled it and I am trying to find the answer now but do you know how I go about rooting my Droid? I already force updated 2.1. I found a website that shows how to downgrade back to 2.0.1 then update to a rooted 2.1 but its says that it will wipe everything out of your phone and you'll need to reactivate it. Is it easy to reactivate myself? I'm kinda afraid to do this on my own. I wish Verizon's unlimited Mifi plan wasn't so expensive, I would think to compete with AT&T giving iPad 3G user's unlimited data for $29.99 they'd lower their plan too.

It shouldn't take long for the new 2.1 to be rooted. Once it comes out then you can just use the wireless tether program.

2.1 has been rooted but you have to revert back to 2.0.1 then updated to the already rooted 2.1 update
