Lets wait for it to get into the hands of real world users. It's a brand new product and with that comes fiddling with it all day. Every single one of my iPhones that I've owned as well as my Android phones have NEVER made it through a full day when I first buy them (the first week even). Lets see how it goes with real world use and then complain if it's that terrible.

I'm doubtful about it because its a watch. Shouldn't be using that much power where one person has to change it twice in one day. But yeah we'll see how it fares in the coming weeks, although not sounding good right now. Looks gorgeous though

Anyone who says the iPhone is bad doesn't know what they are talking about.

I see plenty of Apple users here posting hate for most anything that is not Apple.

Sure they do... At least from an opinion standpoint. If someone likes customization and automation and says the iPhone is bad that would seem to me as a true statement.

Everyone is granted their opinion and the iPhone is not perfect by any means. Some people have different uses for their devices and can say the iPhone is bad.

Just like someone can say the iPhone is perfect. For their uses maybe it is.

Open your mind a little. :D

There is no way this is going to happen... At least not this year or next. Phones have sim cards in them to get cell connection. A watch is not going to be big enough to have that input into it. Not to mention all the other radios on a cell phone. Look how big the garmin watches are and they are just GPS. Nothing else. There is nothing wrong with tethering it to your phone. You already have it with you. No you can just not pull it out every second for every notification. That is very helpful.

Wut? There have been GSM wristwatch phones on Amazon for years. Tons of them.

First smartwatch I've seen that I'd actually wear if I wore watches. That watch is gorgeous.

I predict the iWatch will be $399, and you'll need to pay Apple $99 to replace the battery every year or so.

Dude. Your cynicism based on reality is refreshing. It feeds my spirit.

Either it's a health accessory or it's priced around $400 but not both. No one will pay more than $250 for a strictly health watch. The rule with Apple is "When in doubt, bet on higher price". That means it will be around $400 which means the health aspect will be just one feature of the wearable. What about iHome? What about iCloud? If they don't deliver something closer to my expectations, everyone will be disappointed. Even you, my friend.

Ah, not me. I've been using a Nexus 5 device for months now after my 5S got stolen. Just bought an LG G watch - which needs to be charged every day but otherwise works perfectly. If the price rumor for the iPhone 6 are true, I won't buy one and will use the N5 until the 6S is out - in which case I won't need an iWatch either, as I doubt it'll support Android :)

I think we both meant the people who say the iPhone is garbage, not those who are critiquing a feature or two.

And this points out a key problem with smart watches. Bottom line is no one wants a watch you have to charge every day or even every week.

A standard watch can go for many years without changing the battery or charging.

Thanks for the link. As suspected, the real watch is nowhere near as high framerate or resolution as what is shown in the ad. The animations of the real watch are clunky, choppy. The watch display in the ad is just composited in post-production (an easy tell is at the end when he moves his hand and the display loses alignment with the watch face).

But for most people the basic watch aspect of smartwatches (as in showing date/time) is not the main attraction - or they would already be wearing a regular wristwatch, which very few people do these days.

The value of a smartwatch is additional built in functionality and of course being an extender for your cell phone. Having to charge every other day - or even every night - is a minor tradeoff for a lot of people interested in technology. Personally I wouldn't even call it an inconvenience - people are already used to charging their cell phones on a regular basis.

Judging a smartwatch by how pretty the stock watch face looks seems strange to me since there will be thousands of different variations so choose from within a few weeks of release for the big selling smartwatches coming this and next year. I surely hope Apple will at least let people switch between a handful of different 'views' for the watch face.

Even my now 'old' Samsung Gear Fit (battery life of at least 4 days btw, more if you don't use the pedometer or pulse monitor all the time) which probably only reached sales of a few hundred thousand has hundreds of different third party watch faces to choose from, a lot of them on par or better looking than the stock ones.

I need a watch that can last days between charges, maybe even a week ideally. If it has solar or motion charging even better. It needs to have killer features to make me buy it. Simple notifications are not good enough, and I am not going to read much on the small screen. If the band/watch can collect useful health biometrics I would consider.

Then the iWatch might not be for you: https://www.macrumors.com/2014/09/05/apple-iwatch-battery-life/

same as Android Wear devices - was to be expected, however.

I'm not sure what point of mine you're arguing with here? I'm talking specifically about the Moto 360, and how it's portrayed in the ad vs. the actual look and performance of the real product. It uses a relatively low-res screen, so changing the look won't help that, and it uses an outdated processor which partly explains the choppiness of animations.

So many 'smart watches', all thanks to Apple rumours.

Right, because nobody ever thought of doing one before?

Just from my own memory, and totally ignoring the long comic / sci-fi history of wrist computers and phones...

Someone hasn't heard about "Hey, Siri" apparently...

Siri is Siri, an Avatar, while Google is a company name.
See the nuance.

Microsoft was smart enough to name theirs Cortana...
Hey Microsoft! was have been equally lame.

"A couple of people said the 360 doesn't appeal to them, so in order to perpetuate the apple sheep myth I'm going to say everyone thinks it sucks."
