Hi all,

A friend of mine has got a bad disk in his MBpro, I want to send him a
prepared and mountain lion installed disk that he can replace his bad disk
with.
Can I using a USB disk adapter install mountain lion on a brand new disk,
using my mbpro in such a way that after which I send the disk to this friend,
and he replaces his broken internal disk with it, it boots and works without
a hick ?!

Any ideas to whether this will work ?!
thanks
Rudi

It probably works ok as outlined by you.

You could buy for less than $10 a 2.5" hard disk enclosure (i. e. at Amazon) and install Mountain Lion onto that disk using your MacBook. Then you could send enclosure and disk to your friend. I bought such an enclosure just a couple of months ago for $7 at Amazon, and it works.

This way he can first use the disk as an external boot drive and check about the hicks, if there are any, before opening his MacBook and replacing the internal drive.
