I cannot get past 53.25MB. I have deleted the install several times and started it again. It always stalls at 53.25MB.

    Anyone else seeing this?

In appstore, click on "purchases" at the top.

Exact same problem, tried remove it and trying again, tried restarting and cleaning the cache, tried creating a new user account. Now I'm just about to try downloading on my other Mac....

Edit -- Just tried from a completely different Mac and it's still doing the same, stuck at 53.25 MB......

    Fix

For those experiencing the weird case where the download stays stuck at 53.25MB, I've had that issue before, it seems like the ISP or something in the network is causing it to happen. I downloaded HotSpot Shield and after running it, the OS X download goes to full size.

Interesting, I just ran hotspot shield and it did as you say, just jumped past 53.25 MB, but downloading at a considerably slower speed.
I tried disconnecting hotspot after it got past it, but strangely it then un-downloaded back to 53.25 MB and stuck there again.....weird....

I tried the same, really strange. But I guess since the traffic goes through a certain server, it could be slower.. but it works :)

    ISP causing 53.25MB download stalling

I had the same problem on a BT ADSL connection. As soon as I moved to another connection the download was really fast, about 5 minutes. I think there's some traffic throttling causing the download to stall.

Specifically which ISPs are causing this problem? Also, do you think it's just because everyone is trying to download all once? I think I will wait one week to upgrade to Mountain Lion so Apple can hopefully release an update on some bugs and also I don't get stuck on 53.25 MB while downloading.

Stuck at 53.25 here too - on XO (at work).

Strangely enough, the first time it brought up the install/upgrade screen, but I quit out of it to ensure I could harvest the install file. Good thing, I guess (with the stunted download).

Using the hotspot shield app has got me past the 53.25 limit too.
    Thanks

I've had exactly the same problem. Having spoken to Apple, it's become apparent that it is a BT Business Broadband issue which is causing this. Something to do with my router having a 2GB download cap. I am waiting for a callback from BT and will post any developments.

    ----------

Now spoken to BT. A firmware update is required to complete the download which they said would happen within the next 48 hours. Let's see!

I can confirm this. I was using a 2wire router on BT Business BB.

I replaced it with a Hub3 I had lying around and then paused and resumed the download - no problem. The 2wire is the router that's 'capped'
