Mounting FTP server on OSX desktop?

I did some searches on this site as well as google but could not find what I was looking for.

How can I mount a server on my OSX 10.5.6 desktop? Can I use FTP? Do I have to use another protocol?

You can also do read-only FTP access in addition to those protocols listed on that site.
