It really wasn’t that big a drop. It fell from my hand which was down by my side, onto a wood floor indoors - less than 2ft.
It landed flat on its back and the case is hard plastic on the back - seems that it did very little to absorb the shock which must have been transmitted straight to the back of the phone.

As I can understand this happened because mous cases are very tight which is not good when it comes to absorb the crash. The case should be tight enough in order to keep the phone in the case at the time of the crash and not to tight in order to absorb the crash and not to transfer it to the back glass of the phone or even worse to the screen.

I'm trying to picture someone whose hands are less than two feet from the ground while standing...
I’m 5ft9 and fairly average proportions; arms by my sides, my fingertips are 22in from the ground (and yes, I did just measure it).

Anyway. Back from the apple store - complete replacement, £350ex VAT. Mous case in bin.

So sorry about your iPhone! Which Mous case version was it? Limitless 3.0, Limitless 4.0, Infinity or Clarity?

Kristin

That sucks!
I’m quite surprised, I’ve seen my colleague literally pummel his phone in a mous case to the point where it was banging back and forth between the walls multiple times without so much as a scratch! 😮

That is crazy. If you watch drop tests with no case on from that distance they never break????

It was the Infinity case with magsafe. I’m really unimpressed, hence the post - it cost me £55, which is in retrospect a ridiculous price for a plastic phone case, especially when it fails to do the one job it‘s supposed to.

there has been reviewers mentioning the lower quality between 3.0 and 4.0 cases and from what ive read the newer mous cases are thinner

the 3.0 is better because its interior has microfibre, the 4.0 doesnt have that.

The Infinity is not as protective as Mous's other cases. They are actually pretty upfront about that on their site. The Limitless line is their most protective (the difference in protection between the Limitless 3.0 and 4.0 is supposed to be negligible, although the Limitless 3.0 is probably a little better), the Clarity comes in second and the Infinity is third. It doesn't have the special green Airoshock drop protective material around the perimeter that the other case models do. Really sorry about your phone, BTW :-(

The green stuff would not have made a difference because it is the back glass that cracked.

In that case the limitless is the only choice to go for. However, the sides are slippery and the only model that offers grip (relatively) is the speckled fabric.
Try tech 21 evo check cases. They are quite a low profile yet offer 12 -14 feet drop protection. Been using it since few months and dropped my phone few times with no Ill consequences.
