I am trying to get a mouse to work on my Mini 2. I am assuming the only way to do this still is to jailbreak the iPad? Are there any plans ever to make a mouse work with ipads without jailbreaking?

Tablets generally do not need a mouse. My feeling is Apple will not support mice on iPads otherwise people would buy a laptop.

Not a chance Apple is going to introduce mouse support officially any time soon (I don't think anyway.)
One day when macOS and iOS inevitably merge into one operating system (and I do mean in the dim and distant future) then yeah.

But for now if you want it, you're going to have to jail brake.

Ya, I was going that route, then noticed 10.2.1 does not have a jailbreak out and doesnt sound like it will for a very long time due to apples new programming and the main guy taking away his public jailbreaks.
