PowerMac g5 os 10.4.11.

The keyboard/mouse freeze intermittently. The user will be working and then the computer freezes. We can still move the cursor but can not click or get an response on the keyboard.

Mouse freeze (you won't believe this)

My 13 in MacBook just had a mousepad freeze! I was downloading an update for photo annihilator. The mouse would move but could not activate anything. A USB mouse did the same - move anywhere but do nothing. I started reading all these posts about the proliferation of this problem and gnashing my teeth! Then I remembered something I had read about iPods with problems. This was serious stuff by technicians, which is why you may not believe it. The last resort said one - was to drop the iPod from a height of about six inches. He discovered it accidentally, and "presto" the iPod began working again. Several other techs tried it and it worked for them too. Now the reason is fairly obvious - a slightly corroded connection somewhere - no one knows where. Well -'WHAT THE HELL' I thought, 'I've tried everything else in my limited troubleshooting where-house' . So I picked up my laptop by the sides, lifted it about 4 inches from the table, closed my eyes and took my hands away. This wasn't easy - like maybe deliberately dropping a baby!
The screen went to black and as I backed away in horror I heard that familiar tune of a MacBook booting - Yes it shut down and rebooted and guess what - its working just fine now. I am not saying you should try this. My MacBook is many years old and running OS 10.6. Also the burner is shot so I could afford to be a bit reckless. BUT IT WORKED ! Which reminds me of my old motto: "When all else fails try desperation" ...:D
