Mouse only reacts after second click

I'm having a very weird problem. I constantly have to click twice on objects to interact with them, similar to the way as if the program would be inactive. So the moment I'm typing this text, I actually have to click twice on the smiley icon to include it in this text. 😡

I'm using 10.6.8 and a Logitech mouse. The problem occured, when I installed the latest security update a couple of days ago and to be frank, it's driving me nuts!

Any idea what this is about or how I can solve it? Maybe uninstall the last security update?

Well there is a new update today, have you downloaded that yet? It *might* make a difference.

Is that Logitech wired, usb wireless or blue tooth wireless?

USB wireless. Hopefully that update is gonna cure that horrible error. Thanks for letting me know.

Open System Preferences, under Accessibility, make sure that "Enable access for assistive devices" is unchecked.
