Move audio files to iPad

Is it possible to move MP3 audio files recorded on an SD card, using an SD to Lightning adapter to the "Files" app on an iPad Air ?
I would then be able to upload the files to a website for transcription. Thanks.

Yes, via the Files app you should see your SD card as an external file location. You select files on the SD and move/copy them to your iPad Air or to iCloud.

For some reason, the only thing I see is iCloud, no external drive.

I think the problem is that the iPad Air will not update to iOS 13, it only goes to 12.4.8. Thanks Apple...

I just see now that you posted under iOS 12. This would require iOS 13 to work.

Well, no devices get unlimited OS updates for all time. It would be pretty unreasonable to expect that.

Thanks for all your help Namara. While I don't expect unlimited updates for all time, this Ipad is not old, and I should be able to keep up in my opinion. Cheers.
