Hi

I have Mac mail on my Mac Mini - Version 2.1.3 (753.1).

I have so much mail in my folders, but if I go away I cannot access my mail folders unless I have my mac mini with me.

I am looking to purchase an Ipad (or apple mac), but want to be able to access my mail folders on any new device.

I want to know can I copy/import (not sure of the correct tech term??) all my mail folders onto a new device??

Is it possible and if so, is there a simple way to do it?

At the very least even if I can just copy and view the folders in a new device that would be OK.

Please can anyone advise??

Many thanks

Where is your mail hosted? It sounds like you're using POP to get your mail from the server. You need to change to IMAP so the mail stays on the server. You can then access it from any device.

I keep any current mail in various folders on iCloud but download what I want to archive to my MBP. Once I do that I can't access it from my iPad.

Many thanks for your prompt reply.

You are right it is a POP account.

I will look into how to convert to IMAP as you suggest.

If I can convert to IMAP, is it possible to move all my mail folders across also without losing my emails. I have so many folders set up in my mail that I desperately want to be able to access from any device.I really cannot afford to lose all the emails that are filed in the folders.

Many thanks it is very much appreciated.
