Can someone please tell me how to move the cursor one word forward and one word backward at-a-time in Textedit? Is this a global command for Mac? I have tried the typical combination and nothing works. I am using a brand new MBA 13. I can tell you the following:

CMD+< or CMD+> moves the cursor the entire line in Textedit but nothing else for word-by-word.

alt+> or alt+< works in other apps for moving the cursor one word at a time in Chrome, etc but not for Textedit.

I have followed the instructions here:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201236

In Textedit it is not working... Is there a way to reset or...?

Any help, please?

Thank you!

Well I fixed my own problem... I had enabled Unicode input for some special characters I was typing. I had the Keyboard Inout in the top selected to U+, I clicked it and selected U.S. (so the American Flag) is showing and now my default Mac keyboard shortcuts are working. Sorry for the inadvertent post.
