I'm looking forward to what this new codec can do. I've been using Sorenson for years, and not so long ago, a colleague on one of the animation lists (animaster) posted an animation using the H.263 codec. I was impressed with the quality (los of detail), and file size. My question is, how come everyone is so hot for Sorenson3 but never took advantage of H.263, built into QuickTine for free?

H.263 is great, you can use it on the second pass of Xvid encoding. It is used a lot with Xvid, Sorenson3 is hot because of their previous codec’s success.

It's because there's no dedicated hardware involved.
There's a few cards for the PC that can record HDTV at it's native res. (1920x1080i), but all of them have a special chip on them that takes about 90% of the load off the CPU.
When you're encoding HDTV with M$'s new WMV9 codec, there is no dedicated hardware so 90% of the load is on the CPU.:)

Which is why the user should be worried about the Ti 633 not cutting it anymore. You aren’t going to stick a PCI card in, and PC card won't cut it, so you need raw ghz power to get the job done.

My friend (Pcee) uses a spy-ware remover every 5 days cause on the 6th day everything is sent to microsoft.
He keeps deleteding but since it is built in to the OS, it comes back :( well that is M$ for you... As for IE, I got me a stripped down version, 2 MB less space, 1.9 non mac code, .1 MB spyware, YAY!
Frikken M$

Your friend is an idiot. I have run XP for a year, adaware every month and have yet to find spyware installed. Microsoft's "spyware" can be turned off or you just run zonealarm.

Do not call PCs Pcees, it reflects poorly on Mac users.

So how many codecs do I need to run all of these different formats?
L0L, can someone bundle them all together so I can get ém from one source?
It would help

I forget what the policy of ranting about people it, can and say '****' off?
And I will call Pc users whatever I want ... But THANKS FOR CORRECTING!
Zonealarm doesn't protect againt Software that is hard-wired into the computer, such as the OS... And he removes tons of spyware and he has zone alarm... So please get your information Straight.
Thanks.

And does he change his tin foil every 5 days too? MS can't spy on you like that because they don't have the time and power, if they did the CIA would have a solution.

WM9 uses one audio codec for a lot of audio, even lossless.
