I would like to move my Photos.Libary.photoslibary file from its default location to an external Thunderbolt SSD drive.

I have copied the file to the external drive location and when I hold the “option” key and start Photos I pick the new locations.

At that point I get this message. I am not sure what is going to happen so I just cancel as I don’t want to lose or mess up anything.

What will happen if I go ahead and click on “Delete Incomplete Items”? I would sure hate to mess up that 54GB file or lose any photos?

Thanks

It must click on “Delete Incomplete Items” if you want to go on.

Click on delete incomplete items.

In the Photos app, go to Preferences and under General, click Use as System Photo Library.

Then go to System Preferences > iCloud > Photos > Options, Select iCloud Photo Library to turn that back on.

Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space. Before this, please keep intact for your photos on your internal HD!!
