So, I’m having some active calorie weirdness since getting my new 14 Pro Max.

I walk… a lot… and usually burn 1250 active calories minimum everyday on the move ring.

However, since getting the new phone, I’m not coming close to touching it. I walked 24000 steps today, and still haven’t hit 1000 active calories burned - usually that would have me over 2000 calories somewhere.

Looking in the fitness app, this change definitely happened with getting the new iPhone.

I’ve been running betas for months and it wasn’t an issue, so I don’t think it’s watchOS 9 or iOS 16. I think it must be something to do with calculations between my Apple Watch 5 and my iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Thoughts? Anyone else experiencing this?

Seems to be happening in my wife’s Apple Watch too, just since the new phones, so that’s two. So, I feel like it is a trend, but I don’t know if I’m seeing anyone else complain about it.

Anyone?

I assumed it was to do with WatchOS 9. My walks aren’t as long as yours but definitely having a similar issue.
I’m having to walk maybe 75% further to get the same active calorie count.

I’ve been keeping an eye on the ECG app and it seems really erratic now so I think that may have something to do with it, it not sure.

If it wasn't the fact that I've been running WatchOS 9 beta since the summer, I'd think that too - except that it didn't impact my move ring at all negatively all summer. It really didn't adjust until after I transferred it to the new iPhone (although maybe that triggered something with WatchOS 9 too).

Did you check your personal profile to make sure all your info (age, height, weight, etc.) is correct? I don't see how it could have been reset with the upgrade, but if it somehow happened that would definitely impact your active calorie numbers. (Just trying to start with the simplest stuff first.)

Yeah, checked all that. It’s all very surprising. Not the end of the world, but, it’s something

I'm not quite sure it has to do with the new phone. I noticed this last week before I got the 14 PM.

I usually like to walk on the treadmill for 300 calories after a workout. It took roughly 35-45 mins to burn 300 active calories. Now, it takes close to or a little over an hour.
