I need to move a subscription app from one iPad to a new one. As I depend on this app for daily use I don't want to screw up.
Could someone kindly tell me the basic procedure procedure for doing this.

What app is it? Generally subscriptions run independent of what device (if any device) the related app is installed on.
 
There's nothing you need to do other than reinstall the app with the same Apple ID used for the subscription. If the subscription is outside the App Store, then just sign back into the app with the correct account.
 
Based on all available information you can just install the app on the new iPad, sign in with your UK newspaper account, and once you've confirmed it's working as intended you can log out of and remove the app on your old iPad.

That seems to work - Thanks. But the new install (a newspaper) only partially works because some graphical-content pages won't display (they show OK on the original install). But judging by Google this seems to be a general problem with this app so I need to look elsewhere.

If that display issue involves offline content, maybe try to redownload it.
 
Hi All,
My subscription app is now magically fully working on two different iPads.

But on loading the app into the second one a sleleton form of the paper first came up and persisted. Magically, a day later the full version appeared but with pages missing. At that point I thought that I'd muffed the transfer hence my first post here. The day after that the app fully worked!

It now seems that I had done the transfer OK. The delayed reaction may have been due to sloth at the company's site.
As an excercise, I'm attempting to see if the same faltering process is replicated on a third iPad (same Apple ID). I love trouble!
