Hi,

I have early 2011 15" MBP, recently i took out superdrive so that I could add old hard drive in there whilst putting an SSD in the old HD spot.

I then bought a usb enclosure for my superdrive. When i put a CD/DVD in the disk spins but the drive doesn't show up in finder or anything, also I cannot eject

has anyone any idea how I can solve this?

FYI Im running Mavericks, but even before i hinstalled mavericks I still had the issue

thanks

Can you try the now-external drive on another machine? That would help in determining whether it is a drive-related problem or a MBP USB recognition problem.

Also, have you verified that the enclosure's inside connector is fully seated on the drive's SATA connector? It's not hard to have the connector become at least partially unseated when assembling the enclosure.

I have a generic enclosure that never worked on my MBP but works fine on my mini. I never knew why.

Cheers,
