If this is true, I think this is a great idea. The reason is because most likely Apple is anticipating the big crowds, so it would make sense for the employees to hand out "tickets" or "call numbers" so that the crowd will be more organized. I'm crossing indefinitely for this, so that we can at least go and relieve ourselves for a moment during that day.

3 of the 4 AT&Ts I've asked believe they will be following the roped movie line scenario, but again like all of us, I take that with a grain of salt.

Our Cingular store has a sign in book that the salespeeps use to call who's next. They already have something set up.

Stores with large openings hand out tickets all the time (PS3 launch for example) and having ropes is a basic crowd management technique. I really wouldn't call that a movie theme.

Winner. It actually makes a ton of sense to rope a line off to keep things organized and civilized. Since when does roping off a line only pertain to movies? I really hope they hand out tickets but it may not be necessary due to the sheer volume of phones they may have on hand. So if there are only 30 folks in line and they have 300 phones it wouldnt make a whole lot of sense to hand out tickets. Usually this is to prevent people from standing in line when they definately dont have the stock to accomodate those in the line.
