Apple or some other company (besides MoviePass) needs to provide similar ability perks for home viewing movies available at the cinema. If that happens, I might take a closer look.

No way I would give MoviePass any of my money.

I don't think there is anyone left as gullible to sign up for moviepass after all these mess for the last year. They are rip-off. I already have Sinemia and this new mpass plans are just a copy of Sinemia plans. Except sinemia really cares about its customers
MoviePass was not a ripoff. If it could have worked, MoviePass was a steal. They had, and probably still do have, an unsustainable business model. As others have pointed out, they relied on a gym membership model. Problem was, the commitment to going to a gym regularly is orders of magnitude harder than the commitment to sit and watch a movie. People interested in movies were going to be committed. MoviePass was doomed from the very beginning, especially since it isn't backed by a big theater chain.

I still don’t understand what MoviePass does? Are there really that many people watching a movie a day or 3 movies a month in theatres? I’m lucky if I go twice in a year!

I went to the theaters just as infrequently when movie tickets were $15+. Now that I've been with MoviePass, then Sinemia, then AMC A-List, I go a lot more now. Because it's much less expensive.

They should have launched their own movie theaters with exclusive access to members when they were still flush with cash. They could have earned a lot more from food/drinks etc.

I thought I was one of the lucky people that got the Costco one year unlimited plan a little over a year ago. As movie pass started putting limits to three movies on existing clients, and even converted their own annual plan into a monthly 3 movie plan, it seems they weren't able to figure out a way to convert Costco plans, so technically I'm still on the unlimited plan.

However, since August, it has been not only a pain and much more restricted in terms of movies, but very frustrating. I live in NYC metro area, and rarely find a theater on weekends that has showtimes available. A couple of times the app will have showtimes available, but as soon as I get to the theater, all the showtimes disappear. So now not only do I not get to use movie pass, but also I've already wasted Time and money to get to the theater. I end up buying a full price ticket since I'm already there.

Recently they pushed an app update which made the billing section inaccessible, unless they fix it, you won't be able to cancel your subscription.

Not a fan!

I got burned by MoviePass when they stopped making ANY movies available in my area, unless you reserved a seat for one of their chosen few movies very early in the day. I got nothing for my money the last two months, so I dropped the service.

There was still one benefit, which is that competition from MoviePass may have been why AMC created their Stubs A-List program. First AMC tried PR by disparaging movie subscription services entirely. Then they blinked, and consumers ended up with a new choice.
