Moving contacts FROM iCloud to iPhone

I have stupidly deleted all the contacts from my iPhone.

They still appear at icloud.com and on my iPad.

Grateful for advice on how to put them back on my phone. I am afraid that connecting my phone will wipe them from iCloud too.

I think if you remove the iCloud account from the phone and then re-add it you should be ok.
