The past week I've been using my M3 MacBook Air with 8gb ram from a M3 Max with 48gb ram. Today i decided to sell the MacBook Pro and though it'll be a nice challenge to see if i do really need a max chip in my next MacBook pro/ultra.

So far the only real down side to my MacBook air are the speakers and the 8gb of ram, other than that its fine.

The resale value for MacBooks aren't as good in the uk compared to the us,

This will show me what i actually need rather than want in terms of spec etc but the OLED MacBook has got me excited, so what i need will likely go out the window and ill end up buying a full spec OLED MacBook later this year lol.

You best have deep pockets for the Ultra, looking at the price of the 14" Max M5 the Ultra will be VERY expensive, could start from over 4 grand even.. Myself I think I am still set on selling my MacBook and going to a Studio desktop, I actually prefer using my iPad Pro as a mobile device.

i did set myself a 5k limit for the OLED Macbook but seeing the price of the new 16" M5 max with 64gb of ram which is the spec i would go for, I'm thinking 6k will be a more realistic figure. By October i will have saved around 6k anyway.

If you need it and can afford it it will be one heck of a machine. For me I am going to sell my MacBook and get a Studio, I don't need a laptop and my MacBook sits on my desk all the time, I use my iPad Pro for portable use.
