That's one thing I definitely don't understand, Apple's view of Widgets. Maybe there's a YouTube or something to help me understand how to use them.
It deepends on the app providing a widget and what it does for that app. They appear to the left of the home screen or Notification Center.

Scroll to the bottom of the widget screen and you'll find an Edit button that will allow you to customize the widgets. You can change the order they appear and add/remove widgets there.

Thanks. I'd just found that.

Only frustration now is that I can't reject spam calls. The Apple store whiz says sometimes there's a red reject option on a call and sometimes there isn't, doesn't know why. But if I get an Apple watch it will have Accept and Reject. He's been working at the Apple store for 11 years and teaches classes but sorry you're out of luck

He doesn't know when the option appears and when it doesn't? Or how to do it without that on screen button? Wow.

The decline button appears when a call comes in while the device is unlocked, otherwise when the device is locked only the accept slider appears. That aside, you can always decline a call using the side (or top, on older devices) lock/sleep button on the phone -- press once to silence the ringing, and then press once more to decline the call.

You still can. The difference is when your screen is on, the option to reject appears.

When the screen is off, there is no reject button. However, one press of the power button silences the incoming call and a double press send it straight to voicemail.

Ha. Beat me by a few seconds! Well done.

I know what you mean.

I finally figured out if I hit the power button (side button) it rejects the call and goes back to the home screen or app I was in.

Thanks. I just tried calling my iphone when it was unlocked. Behold there is the red reject option. Then tried it locked and the side button did the trick. Thank you both for the help. Not sure why this has to be so hard. I thought Apple was supposed to be intuitive. Well having used itunes with an ipod I knew that wasn't exactly true. :)

By the way I asked the Apple guy if there wasn't some combination of pushing the side buttons that would reject the call and he said no.

I tend to understand the "Apple way" of doing things, and it took me a while to figure that one out to be honest...

Yeah, the side/top button always works (locked or unlocked) as far as silencing as well as declining a call. Been like that for a long time. Quite disappointing that an Apple employee, especially a customer service one, didn't know that.

If you have an Apple Watch, you can just put your hand over the screen to silence a call. Of all the various methods, that's my favorite by far.

This is strange, most people would move from iOS to Android at the moment.

Subjective opinion only.

I’m one that move from Android to iOS also.

You're right. I'm still on iOS, I just bought the iPhone 8, so I'm on 8 and SE.
I also just got the MB Pro 2015, so I'm still on Mac. What I probably meant, on a Friday night, is that if Apple doesn't get its **** together and produce som real Macs and iPhones soon, they are done. Notch? say no more. They should look at Samsung and learn...

After getting everything set up I realize that I never get a ring tone or text received tone. After going thru Notifications, Sound and DND with no luck. I call Apple. At least 20 minutes on the phone going the same places, calling and texting the XR numerous times, powering off and on, resetting network settings we finally get to 'the only thing I can suggest is that you backup the phone, reset and restore it and if that doesn't work take it to the apple store'. This is crazy.

So tomorrow I go to the apple store and if it's anything like what I referenced above with the woman that had the unrecognized sim I'll be returning the phone.

Is the ring/silent switch on the left set to mute?

BINGO, I found it a few minutes ago. Just finished texting my grandson giving him a laugh about how stupid I was. But you would think the apple help person would have check this.

The Apple "geniuses'' are less than geniuses sometimes...

Glad I could help :)
