I have a library of about 30,000 photos in Lightroom 5 on a 2012 MBP with Mojave. (I had a post 2 weeks ago where I had my library split between Aperture and LR5. I moved everything to LR5: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/lightroom-vs-apple-photos.2267206/)

Because of Cyber Monday I bought a new 16inch MPB. I'd like to move my library from LR5 on my current computer to LR (current version) on the new computer. (My eventual goal is to migrate from LR to something w/o a monthly subscription like On1). Should upgrade LR on the old computer (I guess sign up for a trial of CC) OR can I directly transfer the library over from the old computer to the new one? All my files are referenced.

Thanks!

If you upgrade on the old computer your catalog will update and not be compatible with LR5 anymore.

you should be able to copy the catalog file to the new computer and then just reassociate the file paths.

Thanks. that's a good point. I probably wont' use the old computer but just in case that's a good idea.
