Carrier Moving from Verizon Installment to Apple Upgrade Program

So I ordered my wife a new iPhone, but she has 3 payments left on her iPhone 6 to Verizon. Can we return it early? Do we have to keep paying Verizon too?

Just curious!
 
-With all of the slack the Apple Upgrade Program seems to be receiving right now, it may be best to stay with Verizon's upgrade plan.
-Verizon surely has a deal going on right now like most of the other carriers to trade in an iPhone 6 or greater to receive a free iPhone 7. So it could be best to pay off the remaining 3 payments then trade it in?

I guess it depends on your situation.

Hmm, Can I still upgrade and get the free phone and do the Apple Upgrade plan? I see nothing about the free iPhone 7, where is that?
 
Does anyone know if I can return this phone early and not pay the last three months???
