Hi All,

Any help much appreciated.

Just received a Mac Pro 3.1. All HDs in it are fully wiped so there’s nothing to boot from.

I also have a Mac Pro 1.1. I moved the boot drive across to the 3.1 but no joy.

What’s the best way to install El Capitan onto the 3.1 HD?

Thanks

Download El Capitan installer with a supported Mac, use createinstallmedia do make an USB installer.

You can download from the Apple support page or use mas-cli if your Mac have a macOS version newer than 10.11.6.

All previous macOS versions that you still can download from Apple:

El Capitan: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206886

Sierra: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208202

High Sierra: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208969

Thanks tsialex.

Would a carbon copy of my Mac Pro 1.1 HD be a quicker/better option?
