Hello guys/gals.

I am moving my SSD from a new 27" iMac to a mid 2011 21" iMac.

I am using the latest Yosemite beta. My question is... If i simply install the SSD into the 21" iMac, will my install work as expected? I am only concerned about the drivers.... I assume Yosemite will include all iMac drivers, as it's a generic installer.

Worst case scenario i can do a fresh install and migrate the data, but it would be easier to just move the SSD into the old computer. I have done this before the opposite way around without issues via Mavericks...

Confirmation of this would be great. Cheers!

Did you install the SSD yourself? If you didn't and you ordered it from the factory you won't be able to do this. Are we even talking about physically moving? The SSD?

Can't see why it wouldn't work, Also if you have enough room you could add a partition to your 2011 iMac, and then clone the new iMac to that partition.

There should be no issue there is normally only an issue when you go to an earlier version of an OS one before the computer was manufactured.

I did install the SSD myself yeah. I was previously using it via Thunderbolt, but the 2011 iMac only has one thunderbolt port, so I have installed it internally so I can use the other port for my external display.

I have installed it and it's booting up fine, will see in a few hours if everything else is ok... Family duties :)

Thanks for the advice :>
