OS 10.5.8 and iMovie 8

From a Windows background and still learning the Mac OS.

Have started loading movies in iMovie which is eating into disk space pretty quick so i want to move the uploaded and edited product to an external drive.

Is it possible to have all my movie files on the external and the iMovie program set to read them from the external when required? If so how would i go about that?

Looking forward to your replies.
Regards

Drag the iMovie Project File to your External HD. Now you will have two copies. Delete the one on the Mac HD. I use iMovie '06 and this process works fine. I would imagine it would work the same with '08 as well.

Move the iMovie projects folder and events folder over to the external drive, you can now delete the items on your mac hd, you will then want to open the projects you moved to the external hard drive through finder, allowing iMovie to know where to look for them
