Moving Photos to External

I've been trying to figure out how to move all my photos to my external so i can free up some much needed room on my iMac. I've watched a few youtube videos on it, one of the first things it asks is about consolidating your library. What does this actual do? Also I used to be on Aperature and when I moved to Photos it didn't seem to get every pic from there, how do i get those on.

If all you want to do is move your Photos Library file to an external drive, this is all you have to do:

Okay, i'll try that. What about getting every pic from Aperature?
