Moving pix from iPhone 5s to MBP

i have a MBP 2010 edition running mavericks.. have a iPhone 5s running 8.0 with photo stream turned ON.. i have some pix i want to transfer from phone to MBP.. how do i do this .. i thought i could just use iPhoto but it seems there is no more iPhoto 🙁((
