Hello,

I got a new Mac a few days ago. After succesfully tranfering most of the setting and preferences from the Old to the New Mac, I came to realize that the one thing that my New Mac does not have are the QT components from the Old Mac. On my Old Mac HD/Library/Quicktime I see A LOT of components, but on the New Mac I only see a few. I honestly can't recall how I ended up with so many components, but I guess they're there for a reason, and I just don't want to go through the trouble of having to find them online if I need them on the New Mac.

My question is: If I just copy those components from the Old Mac to the New Mac, will they work? Or do I have to install each of them through their particullar installer in order for them to work properly? I don't think I kept a copy of all the original installers, so I'm corssing my fingers for them to work just by copying them.

Any thoughts or comments would be very appreciated. Thanks guys.

If there are a lot of them I would go through them one by one, looking them up on the internet to see what each does. Some might be for similar purposes and can override each other's functions (like DivX and Perian), and it's always good to keep a lean Library folder. If you had the same OS version installed on the old mac they will probably work, but if you have updated it's good to look for updated versions.
