moving sim to another phone

I dropped and broke my iPhone and was wondering if it's it possible (with being under a 2 year contract on an iphone) to move the sim card from my iphone to another AT&T phone (voice only) and call ATT and have them drop the iphone data plan so that i'm only paying voice even though i'm under contract or am i liable for the data plan the entire 2 years regardless?
 
Yes, you can do that.
You're not obligated to keep the data plan if you dont use the iphone any more. Just the voice and text will do.
