Is it a bad idea to move the laptop while burning a DVD? I was burning using Popcorn and moved my laptop into the next room and the software reported a SERVO error.

Yep. Strictly speaking, it's best not to move your laptop whilst in use at all. The motion messes with the optical drive's (and the hard drive's) own centripetal force. Of course if you're going to move it then try to keep it level, minimise any jolting and avoid rotating it quickly.

You should not be aflame while using popcorn. If you do, you should contact the company that made the popcorn and sue them.

Seriously though. Moving a laptop while a cd is being written is always a bad idea.

Yup, yup.

Moving while burning isn't good.

But moving while using in general is usually not a problem as long as you're not holding it by one corner or throwing it around.

In general, throwing it around isn't good. :)

Yes it is a bad idea, I tried to do this with my dell and whenever the disc finished it would not read.

cheers
