Is it bad to keep your Macbook Pro in a backpack or move it around while in sleep mode? Also, is it bad to use a Macbook Pro while it is in a moving car?

while its asleep no parts are moving or anything along those lines so its fine to transport it that way.

don't see why it would be bad to use in the car unless you're driving. or its very hot/cold.

I always shut it down before putting my MBP in the bag because it might wake up for whatever reason and it can over heat and do damage to the computer.

I've never had a problem with leaving the computer in Sleep mode while transporting it. The latch on my machine (PB G4 1GHz) is a little flaky and will sometimes release the lid which causes the computer to wake up, however my system profiler is set to put the system back to sleep within 7 minutes of inactivity so it has never been a problem. (never even gets warm)

Don't worry about it. Not a problem.
