Hello,

I remember back in the days I began college in computer sciences, they still had a room filled with "dumb" terminals that ran off a huge mainframe.

Would it be possible to run such a set-up using today's MPs?

I have two rooms in which I work in my house, and my MP is in one of them. Would it be possible to route some wires and have only a screen and keyboard in the other room?

From that "terminal", would it also be possible to log into another user while someone else is using the computer downstairs? (Two users logged in at the same time.)

Thanks for any info,

Loa

Yes, it's possible, but only to do the exact same thing, putting a text based command line terminal in another room. You'd need to buy one of those old fangled terminal boxes like you describe. You could log in two people at the same time..... buuuuuttt...

At that point you might as well pick up a cheap computer or laptop, and just have it logged in over SSH. Exact same functionality, less hassle.

You could make a USB/DVI run to the other room, but it would just be a second display, no separate user, no separate control.
