A friend of mine got a new macbook, and whenever a song is dragged from iTunes onto the desktop, the icon is not the iTunes icon with MP3 at the bottom like mine is, but rater an album cover on the desktop.

We both have Leopard... why doesn't my MacBook do that?

1. Click on your desktop
2. View Menu -> "Show View Options" (window should show "Desktop")
3. Check "Show Icon Preview"
4. Close the Window

Your desktop should now show the Album Cover artwork icon for your file.
