If I hear a song off the radio I enjoy, then ASAP I download the song. However, I would like to purchase the albums instead, not because of the quality, but because I can legally claim the songs.

My dad, being the audio expert he is, knows that you lose a lot of the quality on mp3s from a CD quality format. I can't really tell the difference, since I have grown so acustomed to 192Kb mp3s. :)

Pop is mastered far too hot so it's no wonder some people think mp3s are CD quality

I personally hate the quality of mp3s, if it's a VBR at 256Kbps or higher, it's comparable to mini disc quality but for a lot of the music I listen to. Portishead, Hybrid, BT, anything where fidelity is very important sounds awful as an mp3.

Music should have breathing room, mp3s don't tend to mess pop music up so much because they shove loads of over the top limiting and compression on the tunes to get them as loud as possible, Dynamic range suffers as a result.

As far as mp3s effecting my buying decisions when it comes to CDs, I'm probably buying 2 - 3 times as much music now than I did before, I've got very eclectic tastes in music so I'll tend to search for someone who collaborated with someone I'm already into, Buy their album or several of their albums, find someone they've worked with, buy their album and so on...

It also means I don't waste money on artists who are only good for the few tracks they've released as singles and they're album isn't even worth the cost of the media it comes on.
