Mp3's are an audio file.
Midi isn't.

Basically Midi tells synths and such what notes to play at what time, for how long and at what velocity.


The 2 are totally different.
 
It's got to be possible, but it's not yet. I'm sure I've seen some PC software that tries this and fails miserably.
 
Yeah, mp3's are to midi files what an audio CD is to sheet music. You can easily convert in one direction (i.e. have a band play the sheet music and record the results) but not the other.
