MP4 file format for Final Cut Express

I have bunch of video with MP4 format.
It's unable to be imported on my Final Cut Express.....unless I convert it first.

Any other way you might can adviced to me ?

Conversion (transcoding) is needed, as .mp4 files usually use the H264 codec for storing the video, which is not suitable for editing.

Thus the transcoding to a .mov file using the Apple Intermediate Codec is needed.

You can use MPEG Streamclip to do this, it even allows batch transcoding.
