I feel like MPEG Streamclip is a better conversion software than ffmpegX. In MS I think the options you have for converting are much clearer and the movies are generally higher quality when you convert them. ff can be buggy sometimes and the loss of quality is usually very noticeable.

Is there any reason people should be using ffmpegX when MPEG Streamclip is available? Is there anything that ffmpegX can do better or anything MS is missing that ff has?

I have both of those, and iSquint (which isn't available anymore I don't think.. or at least updates are discontinued) for conversion, but prefer Streamclip to ffmpegX. I've had trouble with the latter not getting the aspect ratio right; which may be my error in the end, but everything just 'works' in Streamclip.

iSquint I use for iPod conversions, which it does the most reliably.
