I'm a personal fan of the MPlayer software from my time using linux and it's my favorite all-purpose movie player for the mac. The only issue is that it's not working at all. This has happened on another mac I used it on, and it was after at least a month of use, I have no idea exactly how long. This time I was just opening a movie and then changed my mind and started to open a different movie instead, but it freaked out and didn't play anything. Now when I open anything it plays the sound for a brief moment, but ends up doing nothing.

I'm wondering if anyone has a similar problem with the software or any tips on how to fix it. I tried reinstalling numerous times on the last computer that ran Tiger, but that didn't help in the slightest.

You have given absolutely no information that provides any direction to lend assistance to you:
  • Assuming that you are using the MacOS X version of Mplayer, which development fork are you using, MPlayer OS X 2 or MPlayer OSX?
  • What is the format of the movies that you are trying to play?
  • What kind of Mac are you using?
  • Which version of the MacOS X?
