Unfortunately mplayerx was abandoned 3 years ago on MAS... Prolly gonna have to use VLC

It has not been updated in over a year on the mplayerx.org site

1.0.22.1 does not run reliably in Yosemite but is OK in Mavericks...

Although MplayerX works OK for me for full screen on 10.10.2, you can also try Mplayer OSX Extended... (my MplayerX is from 2014)

    From MAS: 1.0.14 - 2012/05/02

    From mplayer.org: 1.0.22.1 - 2014/1/27

    Looks abandoned :( YMMV

the developer has made a claim on twitter that he'll definitely release a Yosemite-style update.

that said, that was the last we have ever heard from him, so ymmv.

Unfortunately 1.0.22.1 is unstable on some Yosemite installations, it works great on Maverics...

    Hi,

I have been searching for some explanation to some of the settings in MplayerX but couldn't seem to find

    1. What are the number of threads in the preference settings? (mine default is 8)

    2. What is the Image Enhancement option (none, normal, advanced)?

Really apprecite some descriptions to these. Thanks. :)

Hi @yugioh5d , sorry for posting too late but know that MplayerX has returned for a 1.1.0 version which works great with Yosemite (and El Capitan beta 6 I can tell) and has a design update for Yosemite/El Capitan. It know works with HEVC files (also known as x265)

    1. I think Threads are to decode faster high quality video with high encoding profiles, I have 4 by default on my MBA 2012 and it seems well enough as I play everything in 1080p without any problem.

    2. Image enhancement is, I believe, some filter to reduce noisy image with a little blur (and the other way around) or even changing contrast to improve the way you see the images and "improve" video perception.. but it needs to be confirmed by someone who knows better than me

I have switched to use VLC and Elmedia now. MplayerX is great before but for some reason on my computer (iMAC and Macbook) I tend to see pixalated images when like forwarding or rewinding, and the color seems washed out in MplayerX as well compare to VLC, and Elmedia.
