Tom Bosley who played Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard) on Happy Days died today at the age of 83. Lat week it was Barbara Billingsley- The Beaver's mom on Leave It to Beaver. For those of us who grew up with these shows it is a sad day.

These people may not have split the atom or cured cancer, but they made a whole lot of people happy over the years. To me, that's a very worthwhile contribution and is a life well spent. The show was mainly before my time, so I didn't even get much out of it personally, but I still appreciate all the happiness he brought to people in the world.

I would not be surprised if that show was the most syndicated around the world.I also have to wonder if it did help shape American culture at the time, even if it was just a little bit.
