Having recently bought a macbook, I've yet to find the functionality in Mail (if there is one) which allows me to look up names or search my exchange network's address book to find the email of the person once I type in the name. Is this possible on Mail or will I have to revert to using Outlook?

Dang.. thanks for the reply.

I found Mail much 'lighter' to use than Outlook in these past few days but the lack of this feature is a shame.

Also, I don't seem to be able to select my iPhone to sync with the Outlook calendar rather than with iCal in iTunes. Is this possible?

To access the list directly from a mail client you need Outlook. IIRC you can get to your network's GAL from the Address Book.

Why wouldn't he be able to just enable an LDAP auto-complete in Mail? As long as the email admin has enabled it, of course.

If you have an Exchange account, why wouldn't you just enable it on your iPhone, too? Exchange ActiveSync support is built in.
