I was wondering if MS Office 2016 preview is stable enough to be installed? I don't want to buy Office 2011 with the new one right around the corner, but need the MS Word urgently.

I have installed Office 2016 for Mac on May 19, 2015. I have not met any problem up to now. I think it is stable enough to be installed.

Word seems OK, haven't had any issues. Excel has been pretty bad though, just scrolling around a spreadsheet was difficult. It skipped and jumped everywhere.

I am running a 2014 MacBook Retina with 16gb of RAM.
Both Word and Excel take a little while to launch. Besides that they are both stable enough to use for daily use, as I do.

As I am trying to learn excel more, can someone tell me how close Mac Excel is to the Windows Excel? There are plenty of courses for the Windows Excel, but I have no desire to run Windows virtually.
Thank you.

The latest update (15.10) fixed many crash/hang issues I was experiencing. For my fairly basic needs, it's solid now. I have it installed on a 2014 iMac (8Gb) and a 2013 Macbook Air (4Gb) and all the applications run well, though there is some start up lag. The download installer is 3.6Gb and all the apps are nearly 7Gb installed.

Hopefully, the start up lag will get better as they optimize the code. Just for comparison, my entire Office 2011 App folder is 1.32Gb. Excel 2016 alone is 1.6Gb, Word 1.7Gb, PowerPoint 1.55Gb, Outlook 1.02Gb, and OneNote is 650Mb.
