I want to get Office 2016. On line I have seen it much cheaper than in stores. Can anyone recommend a “safe” online retailer for Office?

Just stay away from sales that are too good to be true. eBay, Craig's List, etc. Resellers that have a wide presence on the web are generally safe. (Amazon, NewEgg, and so forth.)

I have no problem buying off of eBay. BUT... a big BUT, it requires patience and a bit of common sense. Power Sellers on eBay that have 10,000's of feedback and over 98% positive are generally a safe bet. I've purchased Windows 7 licenses from reputable sellers on eBay (Windows 7 Pro $8). I've also purchased MS Office (licenses as well as full retail packages) for a fraction of the cost elsewhere.

Same here. I bought MS Office for a ridiculous low amount from a seller who has been selling for over five years. That's a very important factor to look at as most shady seller have their accounts closed in a short amount of time.

Not questioning anyone's experience.... but realistically how can anyone sell Windows 7 Pro for $8 or a very low ball price for MS Office 2016? You have to wonder if they're genuine legal copies or a very good counterfeit copy with a generated serial number?

How cheap do you really want to go? I'm pretty broke right now, but 9.99 per month gets you a lot of value if you have several machines and IOS devices.

www.office.com Take a look around in there. The site is divided into two parts, home/student and business.

And if you really want to buy a copy of Office 2016, it is around 149.00

If you want a full business copy, of course it is a bunch more.

With all the OneDrive integration and online automatic updates, it seems less and less savory to me to try to get a really big deal on a retail copy. Of course, a sale price on a subscription's first year is not something I'd turn down.

Honestly, like Euroamerican said, Office 365 is a pretty good value. Yeah it's $120 a year but you will always have the latest version with the latest features and it is really easy to manage which devices are using your license and what not.

If you don't want to do that than I would probably go with Newegg.com or just straight from Micro$oft.

I'm not sure enough changes in Office suites to warrant spending $120/yr to keep up to the latest version. Lots of people still use even Office 2007/2010, Office for Mac 2011... I imagine 2016 will be good for years.

Reseller licenses and such. Windows 7 phones home with the product key to verify that the key is legit. (Prior to Windows 7, (WinXP) the installer itself calculated the legitimacy of the product key)

The Windows 7 licenses that I've bought (all under $10) have been legit. I can get a perpetual license for Office 2016 (equivalent to shrinkwrap sale, not Office 365) for $35. (I bought one for a friend's computer I was refurbishing)

The sites I have seen which seemed a very good price were - https://getmsoffice.com/microsoft-office-home-and-student-2016-for-mac.html
https://softwaredepot.co/microsoft-office-home-and-student-2016-for-mac.html Both look the same, one US one EU.

Anyone used these companies?
I haven't used them, but I HAVE done business with: Kinguin

5 License’s and 8 tables for around $100 a year also a crazy amount of cloud space.

Which is why OP should ask around in case a friend of family member could have some spare licenses. ;)

It's a lot of money if you don't need 5 installs or the cloud space.
