I heard that Microsoft Stock plunged big time today, or yesterday...

Anyone care to shed light on what happened?

I did a search, and didn't see a thread.

MSFT dropped about 11% after the market close last Thursday.

It was a combination of lower-than-expected earnings, lowered guidance for future earnings, and revealing plans to spend more in areas where they aren't yet dominant (no details given)...analysts aren't sure that the increased investments will pay off.

About $30 billion in market cap disappeared overnight...that's half of AAPL's entire market cap.

Amazing. 😱 If I lost $3 billion dollars overnight I think that I would cry hysterically. 🙁 .....Oh wait, I don't have that much money to begin with. 🙂

Yeah, poor guy...he's only got $24 billion in MSFT stock left. 😉

I actually don't mind Bill getting wealthier anymore now that he's doing such great charity work. At this point, he's not ever going to be poor...it's just a matter of how rich does he become. And the more he makes, the more he'll put into philanthropy...
