I just got office 2008 for the mac and have been trying to find a way to get rid of the titlebar that says, document elements, quicktabs, charts, word art.

Is there a way to get rid of that thing?

Click on the toolbar button labeled "Gallery". That will reduce it to its minimised state.

I'm actually wanting that bar removed, not collapsed.

I also wonder why MS thought word art, charts etc.. need a permanent place in the window ui. Ridiculous.

As do I.

I understand that they're proud of the cute slide-open effect, but those tabs just don't justify the real estate that they take up.

Especially in Excel, where they just serve to further distance the formula bar from the cells you're editing.

Hmm what version of word have you got, because i have version 12.0.0 and i don't have that annoying bar, i was going to update but i never did knowing that in the update you get that bar, one of my friends has an updated version and the bar just seemed to get in the way.

find out if you can go back to 12.0.0
