Does anyone know of a utility or program that would allow me to easily format my 16Gbyte SD card to MSDOS FAT 16 without resorting to a Terminal command?

Disk Utility should let you format to FAT32, but why would you want FAT16 on a card that big? FAT16 is more for a floppy disk or other small storage device.

It is so that my home cinema player can read the card. It won't read it when formatted to FAT32. Do you know of such an app or program?

I almost wonder if you have a more fundamental issue of your home cinema player only supporting SD and not SDHC (or SDXC) cards. That would limit you to cards of 2GB max and put you back in the realm for FAT16.

Good answer jruschme I never thought of that - It would explain a lot. I will have a look at my instruction manual and report back. Thanks
