Has anyone heard anymore updates/news about if/when the MSI 27" glossy 5k MPG 271KRAW16 display might be released? I'm curious to know if there's updates on what the price might be and if it's going to be brought to market or not. If it's actually around $900 and performs well, I'll be buying two of these instead of the new 2026 ASD.

I'm really interested in this display as it is the only one that checks all of my must-have boxes (Glossy, >= 5K resolution, USB-C, Retina PPI, refresh rate > 120Hz, mini LED). I found this image which seems to confirm the specs. I hate to say I am putting all of my eggs in this one basket but I do not know of la single other display that has all these features. I'm particularly interested in the dual-USB-C feature of the display. I intend to get two of these and connect both my work and home laptops to the primary USB-C port on each display, then connect each laptop to the secondary port on each display. Then I plan to use the either display's input menu to switch so I can have dual desktops for either laptop without additional hubs/switches.

Now with a new model number (MPG 271KRAW18) they have also updated the specs and removed the second USB-C port 😕

It chaps my hind 🫏 this MSI is not on the market. The other 5K monitors are coming up short in one area or the other. I am close to getting a BenQ for the time being. At this point, for me it is about what is the lesser of evils. I can always put the BenQ on my Debian box, if the MSI turns out to be as promising as it appears to be.

Gigabyte has announced a comparable, also glossy, due at the same time as the MSI -- see the 5K WikiPost for details.

Supposedly the Gigabyte and the LG share the same backlight. MSI claims DisplayHDR 1400, while the LG and the Gigabyte say 1250 nits (HDR) and DisplayHDR 1000. So maybe the MSI uses a different backlight, probably the same as the HKC.
