MSN cannot receives msgs when appearing offline

My MSN version is the one attached in microsoft office package, and cannot receive msgs if appear offline or indeed not logged in. Is there any version of MSN can sovle this problem, pls? Thanks in advance.

I think the point is that you appear offline. So you can see others log in, but they can't see that you are actually logged on. So no messages sent.

I imagine they do this to cut down on spammer bandwidth.
